What is the fuction of blind flange?

Blind flange is very useful for maintenance in pipeline system. In fact, during the construction of the pipeline, a blind flange may be installed within the final length of the pipeline. This allows expansion or continuation of the pipe, simply adding to the final flange. Without blind flanges, it is almost impossible to repair or maintain the pipeline unless the flow is closed at the previous valve, which may affect miles of pipeline.
