ANSI slip on flange also be caled sorf flange and SO flange. The flange types has weld neck flange,lap joint,blind flange and so on. The standard has asme b16, ansi, jis and anothers. The slip on flange manufactured with an inside diameter that is slightly bigger than the pipe's outside.

When a raised face is necessary for slip on pipe flanges, the standard height is 1/16" for slip on pipe flanges under 400#. For slip on pipe flanges of 400# and up, the standard slip on pipe flange raised face height is 1/4".

Calculated strength of SO flange and weld neck flange:
The calculated strength from a Slip On flange under internal pressure is of the order of two-thirds that of Welding Neck flanges, and their life under fatigue is about one-third that of the latter. So high strength used weld neck flange .
Slip on flange is a flange slipping on the pipe or fitting when connection. The pipe should be insert the flange inner bore,and leave a bit distance from the face of the flange to make sure it will not effect the sealing of two flanges.

Slip on weld Flanges are slipped over the pipe and welded (usually both inside and outside) to provide strength and prevent leakage. Slip-on Flanges are at the low cost end of the scale, and do not require high accuracy when cutting the pipe to length. These SO Flanges can sometimes have a boss or hub, and can be made with a bore to suit either pipe or tube.
Slip-On flange has a hole with matching outside diameter of pipe from which pipe can pass. The flange is placed on pipe and fillet welded from both inside and outside. Slip-On Flange is suitable for low pressure and temperature application. This type of flange is available in large size also to connect big bore piping with storage tank nozzles. Normally, these flanges are of forged construction and are provided with the hub. Sometimes, these flanges are fabricated from plates and are not provided with the hub.
